Issue/Introduction

How can we automate probe deployments to robots using DX UIM rest API / UIMAPI / webservices_rest  and probe utility callbacks?

Can we deploy probes automatically to servers?

Environment

DX UIM 20.4.* / 23.4.*

Cause

Guidance

Resolution

  • Currently, it is not possible to deploy probes using uimapi APIs uimapi APIs (broadcom.com). You can deploy robots but not probes/probe packages.
ADE and RESTful Webservices are currently your best options for probe/probe package deployment automation.

  • The article below contains steps and an example to deploy a probe using webservices_rest
Deploy a probe using the RESTful webservices API (webservices_rest)

  •  Attached to this KB there are some additional useful guides/examples:
    • ADE Callback Reference (Probe Utility (PU) or running pu via command line)
    • Use the DX UIM Api's (webservices_rest)

Additional Information

For automating probe and configuration deployments, DX UIM also offers a "zero touch" monitoring option that is enabled from the Operator Console (OC):
This the Monitoring Confiuration Services (MCS).
See: _ MCS Customer Adoption Guide (broadcom.com) >> Monitoring Configuration Service - Customer Adoption Guide (broadcom.com)
