Issue/Introduction

Does Disk™ Backup and Restore use zIIP processors?

Environment

Release: Disk™ Backup and Restore

Resolution

Disk™ Backup and Restore cannot exploit zIIP processors and there are no plans to do this in the near future.
Although Disk does not use zIIP processors for its work, Datacom uses zIIP if a Datacom Files Data Base is used for Disk™ Backup and Restore

So processes like IXMAINT or LISTD which use Datacom FDB see a reduction. However the light users like ARCHIVE, do not see much reduction. Datacom/AD can use zIIP processing using startup options SMPTASK and ZIIP_USER_LIMIT. Refer DATACOM Database and System tech guide zIIP Processors section for more details.

The DATACOM AUTOINFO report will show the zIIP usage in section TABLE MUF_SRB_ZIIP.
