Issue/Introduction

Upgrading to CTS 5.3. The DADS PLUS for CICS certification requirements state that RO88141 is required for DADS Plus for CICS to function under CTS 5.3. Is this PTF really required?

The Fix TITLE is CTS 5.3 DADS GA SUPPORT

But the problem description seems to indicate that the fix is for an RLS environment only.

Problem Description: When using DADS 4.0 in a CTS 5.3 region with RLS=YES, DADS RLS function requests will fail with the following message

DADSP398 RLS SUPPORT NOT ENABLED IN THIS CICS REGION DADSA398 RLS SUPPORT NOTENABLED IN THIS CICS REGION.

Since the current environment already has on all the PREREQ fixes PRE (ZOS4002,RO70937,RO88018)  required by RO88141 and RLS is not in use, is RO88141 really necessary?

If a client does not need RO88141, a maintenance cycle and many man hours of quality assurance testing can be avoided.

Environment

Release: 4.0
Component: DADS Plus for CICS

Resolution

As per the DADS Development team, RO88141 and its pre-requisite RO88018 are required for CTS 5.3 support.

The pre-requisite fix RO88018 contains code changes that are required for CTS 5.3 support that the fix description does not mention.

As far as RLS fix RO88141 is concened, when DADS checks the CICS level, it also checks the CICS system flags to determine if the region was initialized using RLS. Without fix RO88141, DADS Plus will be checking the wrong field to make that determination and could possibly incorrectly set the DADS internal RLS flag to on, thereby altering processing to assume RLS is in use when it isn't.

After applying fix RO88018 and RO88141, reinstall the DADS SVC as outlined on fix RO88018.
