Introduction:

Cataloged field from DTO4SYS display a value of "-"

Question:

How Cataloged field get populated to show the current catalog status of the data set?

Environment:

z/OS, MS Windows

Answer:

The field Cataloged in DTOC4SYS object is set to either 'Y' or 'N' while processing duplicate data sets, that's object "Duplicate Data Sets" (DUPEDSNS). DUPEDSNS is created at the end of the DTOC scan.

CAT field is set for those data set because their catalog status is tested to find out on which volumes they are cataloged, for the other data sets the value is not checked and marked with a value of  "-".
