Installation of the CA XCOM Gateway fails with LaunchAnywhere Error, "Windows error 2 occurred while loading the Java VM".

Issue/Introduction

Problem: 

When the CA XCOM Gateway v12 installer is launched, the installation fails at initialization with the message "LaunchAnywhere Error", "Windows error 2 occurred while loading the Java VM".

 

Environment: 

Windows Server 2012

Java build 1.8.0_60-b27 and higher

 

Cause:

Starting at Java 1.8.0_60, the JAVA.EXE internal build is returned as "600" rather than "60".  The Install Anywhere Windows installer does not recognize this new format, preventing installation of the XCOM Gateway.

 

Resolution: 

The documented Software Requirements are 'JRE (Version 7) [64 bit] or Java JDK 7 [64 bit] on Windows and Linux x86-64' 

Installing with Java 7 is successful.
