Beginning November 5th, 2026, Symantec VIP is introducing support for Passkey (FIDO2 / WebAuthn) authentication within the VIP Manager administration portal.
To facilitate client-side checks for registered passkeys prior to prompting for traditional credentials, the VIP Manager sign-in user interface will transition from a single-screen authentication prompt to a streamlined two-step authentication flow.

Passkey Support Added:
Administrators will have the option to configure and use Passkeys for signing into VIP Manager.
Default State: This feature is disabled by default at launch. Organizations wishing to utilize Passkey logins can enable and register them as needed.
Updated Login Interface (Two-Step Flow):
Step 1 (Username Prompt): The initial sign-in page will request only the administrator's Username.
Passkey Detection: Upon submitting the username, the portal checks whether a Passkey credential has been registered and enabled for the account.
Step 2 (Password / Authentication Prompt):
If no Passkey is detected or enabled (default behavior), the user proceeds immediately to the standard Password and subsequent multi-factor authentication (MFA) input screen.
If a Passkey is configured, the browser prompts the administrator to authenticate using their registered biometric or hardware security key.
