Issue/Introduction

Environment

Release: 14.1 ,17.x

Component: Service Desk Manager

Resolution

In CA Service Desk Manager 12.9 and later, the web browser interface can be used to create new webengines and domsrvrs for each CA Service Desk Manager server that is defined in the environment.

Here are the steps, with screenshots from a CA Service Desk Manager 14.1.03 standalone server test environment:

 1.  Log into CA Service Desk Manager with a user, such as "ServiceDesk", that has a role allowing access to the Administration tab and set the role accordingly.

 2.  Click on the "Administration" tab and open the "System" folder and then click on "Configurations".

      The Configuration List is displayed.

 3.  Click on "Create New" and enter the Configuration Name and the Host Name.

      "Create New Configuration" is displayed.

 4.  Click on "Save".

      "Configuration Detail" is displayed.

 5.  Click on "Edit".

      "Update Configuration" is displayed.

 6.  Click on "Add Object Manager".

"Create New Object Manager" is displayed.

 7.   Click "Save". Then click "Search" in the "Object Managers" tab of the "Update Configuration" form that is displayed.

After clicking "Search", the Object Manager List is refreshed and lists the newly created Object Manager, "domsrvr:02".

  8.  Click on the tab named "2. Web Engines/Web Directors".

 9.  Click on "Add Web Engine/Web Director".

10.  Click on the dropdown under the "Object Managers *" form field title and select "Choose...".

11.  Click "Update Object Managers" in the Object Managers tab.

      "Object Manager Search" is displayed.

12.  Click "Search".

"Affected Object Managers - Update" is displayed.

13.  Click on the object manager, in the "Available Object Managers" list on the left, that had been created in Step #6 ("primary:02") so that it is highlighted, and then click ">>".

The selected object manager is added to the list of "Affected Object Managers" on the right.

14.  Click "OK".

"Create New Webengine/Web Director" is displayed with the new message "This record has 1 accepted update(s) pending - press Save or Cancel as desired".

15.   Be sure that the "CGI Name" is unique. Click "Save".

If you receive "AHD65322:A duplicate record was encountered with the same CGI name for the server. Insert or Update failed.", then change the "CGI Name" to an unused name such as, in this case, "pdmweb1.exe". Then click "Save" again.
