Issue/Introduction

Issue:

An ESP event failed to trigger due to Informational message 900I.

Sample statement in error:   JOBATTR HOLD REASON('this is a long string and exceeds 28 characters')

Messages issued:       ==>ESP528E ERROR OCCURRED PROCESSING EVENT xxx

                               ==>ESP900I STRING TOO LONG

                               ==>ESP1800I ABOVE ERROR OCCURRED ON FOLLOWING STATEMENT IN JOB xxx

                               ==>ESP1007I JOBATTR HOLD REASON('this is a long string and exceeds 28 characters')

Environment:

CA Workload Automation ESP Edition r11.4

Cause:

In this case, message ESP900I was correctly issued, and it prevented the application from generating.  Message ESP900I is produced by a CA WA ESP parser routine, and may have different text.  This is the only informational message that can prevent an application from generating.

Resolution:

Correct the statement that was flagged as error by the ESP900I message.

As best practice, all new/updated applications need to be simulated prior to running in production.  A batch SIMULATE job will return CC=08 on an ESP900I message.   Online SIMULATE will display the following additional messages:

     ==>Errors detected

     ==>Simulation detected errors in Event processing

All messages (Informational, Error) need to be reviewed and corrected.
