Issue/Introduction

UNAB isn't working properly. Messages like this can be found in the messages/syslog file:

UNAB Failed to open NSS cache db '/opt/CA/uxauth/etc/nss.db' native error: unable to open database file

Note: These messages may reference a different .db file. This document applies to any .db file inside /opt/CA/uxauth/etc/

Environment

Release:
Component: SEOSU UNAB

Resolution

The .db files in /opt/CA/uxauth/etc/ are cache files that UNAB uses to store information so it doesn't need to request the same information repeatedly. The message above usually means that the .db file has become corrupt for some reason. All .db files in this directory can be deleted without impacting UNAB functionality. They will be re-created & re-populated automatically after UNAB is started back up.

Steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Shutdown UNAB
  2. Remove the effected .db file(s) from /opt/CA/uxauth/etc/
  3. Start UNAB
