A new user has received this error message when trying to sign on to CA VOLLIE
CAVO0162E CANNOT SIGN ON MORE THAN 32 TIMES
This is the first time this message has ever appeared - why would it suddenly start now and how can I resolve it ?
The message CAVO0162E CANNOT SIGN ON MORE THAN 32 TIMES can be resolved by using the USRSGNON procedure to clean up the entries for that specific user.
Chapter 4 of the CA VOLLIE 5.0 Systems Programmer Guide contains full details of how to use the USRSGNON procedure.
As the user receiving the error is a new user, it is likely that they are not signing off properly when using the system. For example, they may just be disconnecting from an application rather than logging off of CA VOLLIE. This error message can occur if there is a build up of control blocks left from previous sessions that did not sign off properly.
PTF QO94402 is recommended to be applied as it removes the SIGN OFF operation id during a CA VOLLIE signoff and also QO95305 should be applied and the steps documented in PIB RI10511 should be implemented to clean up outstanding CA VOLLIE member entries when a CICS session is dropped or forced off.
