Answer: 

Page 444 of the CA Easytrieve Programming Guide shows: 

     DATEVAL [field] [format] [THRESHOLD] 

On page 445, it shows these are some of the more comment formats: 

     MMDDYY MMDDCCYY YYMMDD YYDDD (Julian) 

If the century is not part of the date format specified above, please also specify THRESHOLD with a value.
