After upgrading to VCF 9.1 or VCF 9.1.1, the Supervisor Control Plane VM's are no longer in inventory after upgrading to VCF 9.1 or VCF 9.1.1 from 8.0U3 or 9.0.x, the Supervisor Control Plane VM's are no longer in inventory.
vCenter Server 8U3
vCenter Server 9.0.x
vCenter Server 9.1.0
vCenter Server 9.1.1
Issue is caused by a missing "vm_placement_policy" column in the VUM DB.
This missing column is caused by running the vLCM DB Reset while on VC 8.0u3 or VC 9.0.x.
The issue is fixed in the next release of VCF 9.1.1.
Since the Supervisor Control Plane VM's have been deleted and the only recovery is to the following.
1. First revert the vCenter upgrade to previous version.
2. Then restore the Supervisor Cluster from a Supervisor backup.
3. After restore is complete, run the following KB to fix the database inconsistency.
4. Initiate the Upgrade to 9.1.0 or 9.1.1.
