HCX OSAM Sentinel Installer Does Not Support Ubuntu 22.10, 23.10, and 24.04 LTS - VMware HCX

Issue/Introduction

Users may find that technical documentation indicates Ubuntu 22.10, 23.10, and 24.04 LTS are supported for HCX OS Assisted Migration.

Attempting to install the HCX OSAM Sentinel on these operating systems fails with an error similar to the following  for  ubuntu-23.10-64 and ubuntu-24.04-64:

VMware HCX OS Assisted Migration Sentinel is not supported on ubuntu-24.04-64

(Note: The exact version string in the error message will reflect the specific OS version you are installing on, such as ubuntu-22.10-64 or ubuntu-23.10-64).

When attempting to install the agent on Ubuntu 22.10, the installer does not throw a "not supported" error. However, this operating system is still an unsupported version.

Resolution

• Note that HCX OS Assisted Migration (OSAM) currently does not support Ubuntu 22.10, 23.10, or 24.04 LTS.

• Refer to the Supported Guest Operating Systems technical documentation, as Broadcom is working on updating this document to accurately reflect supported platforms.
