Issue/Introduction

  • Fleet Lifecycle upgrade from 9.1.0 to 9.1.0.0400 fails during prechecks. The upgrade interface display the following error indicating a failure to reach the depot service:
The URL for component package is not reachable: https://####/depot-service/content-gateway/PROD/COMP/VCF_FLEET_LCM/depot-manifest-vcf-fleet-lcm-9.1.0.0400.####.yaml. Please verify the URL and network connectivity. [VCFMS-PRECHECK-URL-001]

  • The vCenter UI shows an IP conflict: one of the VCF services runtime node's IPs is the same as the worker node's IP.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1

Cause

This issue is caused by an IP address conflict where the Log Management VIP is not explicitly excluded from the VMSP Platform IP pool. As a result, the system inadvertently assigns this VIP IP to a VCF services runtime node, creating a network collision with the worker node. This underlying routing conflict disrupts overall network communication, which actively breaks URL connectivity and prevents the system from accessing or retrieving the required files.

Resolution

Broadcom Engineering is aware of this issue and plans to resolve it in a future release by introducing prechecks to prevent IP pool overlap.

Workaround:

  • Exclude the Log Management VIP IP from the vmsp-platform IP Pool.
  • Engage Broadcom Support for assistance with resolving the IP conflict and excluding the affected IP from the vmsp-platform IP pool.
