Issue/Introduction

SSH access must remain enabled on the VCF Services Runtime to support core upgrade workflows and system operations.

Environment

VCF 9.1

Cause

Disabling SSH on the VCF Services Runtime is strongly discouraged due to the following operational impacts:

  • No API Recovery Path: There is no API available to re-enable SSH once disabled, significantly complicating access restoration.

  • Restricted Troubleshooting: Disabling SSH limits diagnostic capabilities and extends downtime during support or emergency recovery sessions.

  • Upgrade Dependencies: Core VCF lifecycle management and system upgrade workflows explicitly require SSH access to execute properly.

Resolution

Keep SSH enabled on the VCF Services Runtime. If SSH has already been disabled and administrative access is lost, contact support for manual recovery assistance.
