Issue/Introduction
- This article explains why ESX 9.0 does not appear as a supported version for CIM Providers (Hardware Monitoring) in the VMware Compatibility Guide.
- When searching the Compatibility Guide for "CIM Providers (HW Monitoring)", ESX 9.0 is not listed or selectable in the "Product Release Version" filter.

Cause
This behavior is expected. CIM (Common Information Model) services, including the "sfcbd" Watchdog service, have been decommissioned and removed in ESX 9.0 and later. Because CIM services are no longer part of the ESX architecture, no CIM Providers can be supported or listed for this release.
This is not a defect or a missing listing; it is an architectural change.
Resolution
If you require hardware monitoring for your servers on ESX 9.0, please contact your hardware vendor to identify modern, supported management solutions that do not rely on legacy CIM services.
