Issue/Introduction

When attempting to delete devices from the Operator Console (OC) inventory with the "Deep Clean" option enabled in DX UIM 23.4 CU8, jobs may fail to complete, showing a "Failed" or "In Progress" status indefinitely.

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4 CU8
  • Operator Console (OC) Inventory

Resolution

This issue is addressed by the fix package ump_operatorconsole-23.4.8.1.zip, which is attached to this article and will also be included in the upcoming DX UIM 23.4 CU9 release.

  1. Download the Fix Locate the ump_operatorconsole-23.4.8.1.zip file attached to this knowledge article and save it to your local machine.

  2. Deploy the Patch Using Infrastructure Manager (IM) or Admin Console (AC):

    • Import the ump_operatorconsole-23.4.8.1.zip package into your UIM Archive.
    • Deploy the package to all Operator Console server(s) in your environment.
    • Allow the deployment to complete and the wasp probe to restart.
  3. Verify and Retry

    • Once the deployment is finished and the wasp probe is back online, retry any previously failed device deletion jobs.
    • The DeviceController and ComputerSystemService logic will now handle retries and status polling correctly, allowing the jobs to settle into a terminal "Success" state.

Note If you choose not to apply this hotfix immediately, you may use the workaround of performing device deletions with the "Deep Clean" option disabled. This allows the device to be removed from the inventory without triggering the processes associated with the defect.
