Issue/Introduction

Starting with VCF Operations 9.1.1, several Management Packs (MPs) require an updated, compatible version to continue collecting data correctly.

If the environment has one or more adapter instances configured for any of the Management Packs listed below, data collection for those adapter instances will break immediately after you upgrade VCF Operations to 9.1.1, unless the MP is also upgraded.

VCF Operations 9.1.1 includes a pre-upgrade check that will flag affected adapter instances and notifies if any of these MPs are detected in the environment. This article explains which MPs are affected and what action to take.

Affected Management Packs

The following affected Management Packs must be upgraded to their 9.1.1 version, available on the VMware Marketplace, immediately after upgrading VCF Operations to 9.1.1 to ensure continued operations and compatibility:

  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for Microsoft SQL Server
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for MongoDB
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for MySQL
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for PostgreSQL
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for ServiceNow
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for Oracle Database
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for Network Devices
  • Kubernetes
  • Aggregator
  • SNMP Management Pack
  • VCD
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for VCF Operations HCX
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for Orchestrator
  • Avi Load Balancer Operations
  • Avi Load Balancer Observability
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for Protection and Recovery (former SRM)
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Management Pack for VMware Live Recovery cloud (former VLCR)

Resolution

Note: If there aren't any adapter instances installed and/or configured for the Management Packs listed above, no action is required.

Step 1: Confirm affected adapter instances

  1. Log in VCF Operations instance.
  2. During the upgrade to 9.1.1, review the pre-upgrade check results — any affected Management Pack adapter instances will be flagged automatically.
  3. Alternatively, navigate to Operate > Administration > Integrations > Repository and note any configured adapter instances matching the Management Packs listed above.

Step 2: Download the updated Management Pack

  1. Go to the Solutions Catalog.
  2. Search for the affected Management Pack(s) by name.
  3. Download the 9.1.1 compatible version of each affected Management Pack.

Step 3: Install/Upgrade the Management Pack

  1. In VCF Operations, navigate to Operate > Administration > Integrations > Repository.
  2. Select the Management Pack to be upgraded and choose Add/Upgrade.
  3. Browse to the downloaded PAK file and follow the installation wizard to complete the upgrade.
  4. Repeat for each affected Management Pack identified in Step 1.

Step 4: Verify collection has resumed

  1. Navigate to Operate > Administration > Integrations and select the upgraded adapter instance(s).
  2. Confirm the adapter status shows Data Receiving (or equivalent healthy status).
  3. Confirm metrics/properties are populating as expected for the affected object types.

Impact if Not Upgraded

Until the affected Management Pack(s) are upgraded to version 9.1.1, adapter instances for these MPs will stop collecting data in VCF Operations, resulting in stale or missing metrics, properties, and alerts for the associated objects.
