When customizing patch versions during a Fleet-managed upgrade, selecting a target version lower than the component's currently installed version (a downgrade) allows the plan to be accepted. On the Upgrade screen, the Precheck and Upgrade action buttons become disabled (greyed out), and an info message appears:
"Pending Task Completion"
No actual task is pending. This misleading message provides no clear indication that the plan contains an unsupported downgrade, preventing the operation from proceeding.
VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1.1
The Customize Patch Versions interface does not validate that a selected target version is greater than or equal to the component's current version before the plan is saved. Downgrading a component is not a supported upgrade operation, so the Upgrade screen disables these actions but displays a generic info message instead of a specific validation error identifying the downgraded component.
