Issue/Introduction

When an AAI Blackout Period is configured, alert evaluation for a jobstream is paused rather than canceled. If an alert condition (such as an SLA breach) becomes true during the blackout window, it is not suppressed permanently. Instead, the condition remains evaluated as "true" and fires immediately the moment the blackout window closes.

Environment

Product: Automation Analytics & Intelligence version 24.x

Cause

This is "by design" in AAI. The Blackout Period acts as a gate that temporarily vetoes the alert pipeline. It does not possess memory or state to "discard" or "ignore" conditions that originated during the window. Because the system performs a fresh evaluation upon every cycle, it detects that the condition is still true the instant the blackout window is lifted.

Resolution

Blackout Periods are configured day/time windows during which alert evaluation for a jobstream is paused. They do not cancel or discard existing alert triggers.

To manage this behavior:

  1. Review your jobstream SLA definitions and consider if Blackout Periods are the appropriate tool for your suppression needs.
  2. Understand that any SLA breach occurring within a blackout window will be reported immediately following the conclusion of that window.
  3. For additional details on configuring Jobstream Alerts and Blackout Periods, refer to the AAI Documentation.
