Issue/Introduction

Attempting to display an IDEAL program but the following error message is received:

ICEDITOR01E - PROCEDURE not found

Cause

The problem can be caused by a corrupt index in the VLS source library containing the programs. This can be confirmed by running a VLSUTIL BACKUP on the VLS library.

If the index is corrupt, the following error will be shown:
MEMBER NAME IN THE INDEX IS OUT OF SEQUENCE AND HAS BEEN SKIPPED. NAME IS nnnnnnnnnnnn nnnnn

Resolution

There are 2 options to recover the corrupt VLS library:

  • Run a VLSUTIL BACKUP, FORMAT and RESTORE on the VLS library. For any missing members, locate them in a previous backup and perform a VLSUTIL SELREST.

or

  • Run a VLSUTIL FORMAT and RESTORE all members from a good previous backup.
Sample JCL for running VLSUTIL is in member VQNEW01 (for 15.1) or VQNEW02 (for 14.0) in the IPC INSTJCL library.
