Adapter instance object has error status with Read timed out error in the adapter log for HCX 5.4.0 management pack

Issue/Introduction

Configuring the HCX 5.4.0 management pack in Aria Operations the credentials validate successfully but the HCX adapter remains in a warning status after saving the configuration.

The associated /storage/log/vcops/log/adapters/HCXAdapter/HCXAdapter_.log contains the following:

com.vmware.vcops.adapter3.hcm.HCXAdapter.onCollect - login successful
com.vmware.vcops.adapter3.hcm.client.HCXClient.querySitePairings - Exception in fetching hcx cloud inventory list java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

Network connectivity issues between the Source and Target HCX appliances in a site pair.

• The "/service/inventory/resourcecontainer/list" API in the HCX manager internally performs a REST call to reach the remote HCX pair.
• When a network issue exists between the source and destination, this call takes 120 seconds to time out, which causes the HCX MP to throw a socket timeout exception.

Resolution

Review the connectivity between the HCX appliances and open a support case with the Broadcom HCX team if assistance is required mentioning this KB article 453850.
