• This article provides the resolution for HTTP failure response 500 OK during VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) host commission or decommission processes via API, specifically when experiencing validation failures related to Storage type parameters and vSAN HCL validation.

Cause

The Storage_type value in the host configuration template is incorrectly formatted using lowercase characters (e.g., vsan_esa). API validation requirements dictate that Storage_type must be in uppercase (e.g., VSAN_ESA).

Resolution

1. Review the input template or JSON payload being used for the host commission or decommission API request.
2. Locate the Storage_type parameter within the host configuration properties.
3. Modify the value so that it is strictly in uppercase (i.e., VSAN_ESA).
4. Save the template and re-execute the host commission or decommission API call.
