Repeated virtual machine (VM) alerts were triggered, resulting in an excessive volume of notification emails

Issue/Introduction

- vROps repeatedly triggered VM alerts as long as the alert status is cancelled or new 

- The following error was identified in the vROps analytics process logs:

"Failed to send Email notification from analytics processes"

- Still the error repeated after KB439631 executed

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The unreachable or invalid email recipient address configured in the vROps notification settings, causing the analytics process to fail and repeatedly retry

Resolution

1.Identify and remove the unreachable or invalid recipient address from the vROps notification settings.

2.Perform an offline/online cycle of the vROps cluster to reset the analytics processes and clear the stuck notification queue.
