NSX Edge cluster deployment validation failed: TEP IP and TEP gateway IP mismatch - VMware NSX

Issue/Introduction

When deploying an NSX Edge cluster via SDDC Manager, the validation process may fail with an error indicating a subnet mismatch between the Tunnel Endpoint (TEP) IP and the TEP Gateway IP.
This article provides the steps to identify and resolve this configuration error.

Symptoms:
The NSX Edge cluster deployment fails during the validation phase with the following error: ECM_EDGE_IPS_NOT_IN_SAME_SUBNET Validation that IPs are in same subnet failed. Edge node's TEP IP <IP_ADDRESS>/<MASK> and TEP gateway IP <IP_ADDRESS> are not in the same subnet.

Cause

This error occurs when the TEP IP address and the TEP Gateway IP address assigned to the Edge node are not configured within the same subnet. SDDC Manager enforces validation to ensure connectivity requirements are met.

Resolution

1. Identify the mismatched IPs from the error message.
2. Verify the network configuration for the affected TEP interface in your networking environment.
3. Correct the IP address or subnet mask on the Edge node configuration or the Gateway to ensure they belong to the same subnet range.
4. Restart or retry the Edge cluster deployment validation in the SDDC Manager UI.
