IGA R15 installation compatibility with Centrify/dzdo and igx group constraints

Issue/Introduction

This article outlines installation requirements for IGA R15 in environments utilizing Centrify/dzdo rather than standard sudo. It also addresses constraints related to the igx group and access permissions for /etc/hosts. Customers encountering "Failed to connect to bus: No medium found" or permission errors during R15 installation should review these guidelines.

Cause

The IGA R15 installer assumes standard sudo environments. Centrify/dzdo configurations may restrict the installer's ability to execute commands with required privileges or modify system files like /etc/hosts.

Resolution

To resolve installation errors associated with dzdo and file permissions:

1. Ensure the installer script is configured for the Centrify environment. Replace standard command calls in the install script as follows:
   • Replace su - with dzdo su -
   • Replace sudo with dzdo sudo
   • Replace runuser with dzdo runuser
2. Review /etc/hosts permissions. If the igx group does not have the required access, implement ACLs instead of granting broad write permissions to the group.
3. Upgrade to IGA 2.0 or higher. Version 2.0 handles these permissions using ACLs rather than modifying /etc/hosts directly, resolving the group constraint issue.
