The ESX top view panel shows no data charts, graphs, or performance metrics
ESX Top metric status shows "Activated" in the base policy and "Activated (Inherited)" in the sub-policy, but no live data is available
The Real Time Metrics component was deployed after enabling the ESX Top metrics in the policy
VCF Operations 9.1
When the ESXTOP policy is enabled before the Realtime Metrics component is installed, the configuration change is written to a temporary or staging directory. However, the component's installation package is hardcoded to deploy a clean, default template where high-frequency metrics are disabled. During the installation process, this clean template completely overwrites the pre-staged configuration file, erasing the instruction to enable ESXTOP. Because the system lacks a post-installation synchronization check, the policy engine incorrectly reports the setting as active while the local component remains disabled.
