Intermittent JOBF failures with Error 3408 on Agent AS400

Issue/Introduction

Introduction: During high-load periods or nightly batch windows, file transfer jobs to an IBMi (AS400) agent may terminate abnormally with error code 3408. This article outlines the root cause and the required resolution.

Symptoms:

• File Transfer (JOBF) failure with:
  U00063024 FT '###': Error while writing to file '/path/to/file'. Error: '3408 - The address used for an argument was not correct. >FileChannel.cpp#sys::FileChannel::write(const byte *, size_t):162<'.
• Failures often correlate with high activity or peak batch processing.

Environment

• Agent AS400 versions prior to 24.4.5
• Error occurs during FT (JOBF)

Cause

Most likely same cause as described on 441910 but could not be confirmed yet.

Resolution

1. Upgrade the Automic Automation Agent AS400 to version 24.4.5 or higher.
2. If the issue persists after upgrading, enable tracing on the agent side (ft=6), reproduce the issue, and open a new support case with the collected logs for Engineering review.
