Environment

• VCF Operations for Networks
• Version 9.1.x

Cause

The issue is caused by a version discrepancy within the cluster. This typically occurs when a new Collector node is deployed using a newer build or version than the existing Platform node.
The upgrade process requires all nodes in the cluster to be on the same version before proceeding.

Resolution

To resolve the version mismatch and proceed with the upgrade, follow these steps:

1. Prepare the Mismatched Collector

• Identify the Collector node with the higher version (e.g., via IP address).
• Migrate Datasource(s): If the collector has active vCenter datasources, migrate them to a compatible collector if possible.
• Remove Datasource(s): If migration is not possible or no production workloads are affected, delete the added datasources from the mismatched collector.

2. Remove the Mismatched Node

• Delete the mismatched collector from the VCF Operations GUI.
• Delete the corresponding virtual machine from the vCenter UI.

3. Perform Cluster Upgrade

• Backup: Shut down the remaining healthy platform and collector nodes and take Cold Snapshots in vCenter.
• Power the nodes back on.
• Proceed with the upgrade of the Platform and remaining Collectors to the target version (e.g., 9.1.0.0200).

4. Restore the Collector

• Once the deployment upgrade is successfully completed, deploy a New Collector node.
• The new collector will now match the upgraded platform version.
• Re-add the vCenter datasources to the new collector.
