The ESXi host is in a "Not responding" state and fails to boot due to missing bootable media and undetected disks

Issue/Introduction

- The system cannot detect any physical disks or boot media during the POST/boot process:

"No boot device available or Operating System detected. Please ensure a compatible bootable media is available"

- Hardware voltage alerts and power state failures resulted in the loss of SSH and UI connectivity.

- iDRAC reported critical power alerts for 48 hours, leading to hardware instability

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0 U3

Cause

Critical hardware failure of the power supply and storage controller/disks has rendered the host unbootable and unreachable

Resolution

1.Engage Dell Support to replace the failed power supply units.

2.Investigate the storage controller and physical disk integrity with hardware vendor diagnostics.

3.Reseat or replace storage components as directed by the hardware technician to restore the boot device.
