Issue/Introduction

When attempting an inventory sync in VCF Operations for VCF Operations for Networks (formerly vRealize Network Insight/vRNI) before an environment upgrade, the process fails at Stage 2.

The inventory sync fails with error LCMVRNICONFIG90151, displaying the following error message:

java.lang.RuntimeException: Error occurred while pushing capabilities to VCF Ops Networks    at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.plugin.core.vrni.driver.helper.VRNIUtils.pushCapabilities(VRNIUtils.java:2119)    at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.plugin.core.vrni.task.serviceregistry.PushCapabilitiesToVrniTask.execute(PushCapabilitiesToVrniTask.java:122)    at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.automata.core.TaskThread.run(TaskThread.java:62)    at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(Unknown Source)    at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(Unknown Source)    at java.base/java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.x
VCF Operations for Networks 9.0.x

Resolution

Follow these steps in order to resolve the issue:

  1. Backup: Ensure a current snapshot of the SDDC Manager and Aria Suite Lifecycle (LCM) appliances exists.
  2. Remove Component: Delete the VCF Operations for Networks (vRNI) component from the VCF Operations/Aria Suite Lifecycle inventory.
  3. Patch Update: Perform an inventory sync on VCF Operations and proceed with the patch update.
  4. Re-import: Perform an import of the existing VCF Operations for Networks environment.
  5. Validation: Once the import is successful, trigger a manual Inventory Sync.
