Aria Operations email test fails with Error "Could not convert socket to TLS"

Issue/Introduction

• Aria Operations emails are sent using non TLS connection. 
• With TLS enabled, the email test fails "Test was not successful: Email test error: [Could not convert socket to TLS]"
• Issue still persists after following the KB SMTP Outbound Connection Test Validation Failed with Error "Could not convert socket to TLS"

SMTP server with TLS enabled

Cause

There could be a number of causes contributing to this issue and it needs further investigation. 

Resolution

1. Enable the debug logging in Aria Operations for notification module by following Enable SNMP / SMTP Trap DEBUG logging for outbound notifications
2. Execute the email test with TLS
3. Disable the debug mode
4. Collect the support bundle (Collecting diagnostic information from VMware Aria Operations)
5. Contact the Broadcom support (Creating and managing Broadcom cases)
