Issue/Introduction

Retrieving local user account inventories from VMware HCX Manager and fleet appliances programmatically is not a supported feature. This information is often required for IAM compliance and system inventory auditing.

• Unable to find REST APIs or SDK methods to list local user accounts.
• CLI commands do not provide a supported way to export user inventories.
• Automation for IAM compliance fails to gather appliance-level user data.

Cause

The VMware HCX product architecture does not expose local appliance user account inventory through public APIs or supported shell commands. These accounts are dedicated to internal system-to-system communication (e.g., between the HCX Manager and fleet appliances) and are restricted to internal use to maintain appliance security and operational integrity.

Resolution

There is no currently available API or CLI method to retrieve local user accounts on VMware HCX appliances, as this capability is not implemented in the product design.
