Orphaned Supervisor VMs After Restoring vCenter Using a VM Clone

Issue/Introduction

When restoring vCenter using a Clone of the VM Supervisor VMs can be observed in an Orphaned state. Storage Policies and Cluster health may also show various non-compliance errors. 

Environment

vSphere Supervisor

Cause

Restoring vCenter via a Clone is not supported

Resolution

Restore from VAMI backup or powered-off snapshot of the original vCenter VM. If one does not exist contact VMware Support.
