Issue/Introduction

Users may encounter a non-specific red error flare stating "the page cannot be deleted" when attempting to remove legacy custom pages that have undergone a partial conversion or where associated Custom Views were manually deleted.

Symptoms:

  • Attempting to delete a deprecated or unshared legacy custom page results in a red error flare.
  • The error message states: "the page cannot be deleted."
  • Page was previously involved in a conversion attempt that failed or was interrupted.

Environment

 Rally SaaS

Cause

This issue occurs when the legacy page metadata enters a corrupted state because the associated converted objects were deleted, or the conversion flag was incorrectly set during a partial migration.

Resolution

To successfully delete the corrupted legacy page, follow these steps:

  1. Share the page: Navigate to the private/deprecated legacy page and select the option to share it again.
  2. Initiate Conversion: Select the gear icon and choose Convert to Custom View.
  3. Configure Settings: Ensure the checkbox for "Replace legacy version" is unchecked.
  4. Complete Conversion: Proceed with the conversion to create a new Custom View.
  5. Delete Legacy Page: Navigate back to the legacy page and select Delete. The page should now be removed without the red error flare.
