Issue/Introduction

Documentation Change:  CHANGE DASD LABEL NOT RECOGNIZED IN SELECT FILE

  

Scenario:

If you change the DASD volume label for a volume that is SHARED by multiple systems, while leaving the devices ONLINE and FREE to VM, HiDRO does not recognize that the volume label has been changed. HiDRO will not SELECT or EXCLUDE DEVNO DASD devices when creating a backup because the changed volsers are not seen on the VM system.

After applying PTF RO87259,  HiDRO r2.8 will LINK the DEVNO minidisk and issue DIAGNOSE CODE X'A8' to read the DASD volser.

 

In case of a LINK failure, the following messages will describe what problem occurred.

 

Return Code: 26     Message number: 026E    Message identifier: DIR026E

 

 Text:

 LINK userid vdev DEVNO DEVICE FAILED RC=110. DETACH DEVICE F999.

 Reason:

 HiDRO attempted to issue command LINK userid vdev F999 RR, but virtual device F999 is already defined.

 Action:

 Detach device F999 from SYBMON user id and try again.

 

 

 Return Code: 27     Message number: 027E    Message identifier: DIR026E

 Text:

 LINK userId vdev DEVNO DEVICE FAILED RC=298. REJECTED BY ESM.

 Reason:

HiDRO attempted to issue command LINK userid vdev F999 RR, command has been rejected by External Security Manager.

 Action: 

 Make sure SYBMON userid is allowed to LINK userid specified in the message.

Resolution

Apply PTF RO87259.

After applying, HiDRO will LINK the DEVNO minidisk and issue DIAGNOSE CODE X'A8' to read the DASD volser.
