Issue/Introduction
With the release of Security Services Platform (SSP) 5.2, AI Assistant features for VMware vDefend and VMware Avi Load Balancer are now available.
AI Assistant for vDefend and Avi utilize LLM tokens. Users have the choice of getting started with a set of included AI Assistant Units to use with a Broadcom-provided LLM account, or users can choose to connect their own LLM account for unlimited LLM token usage.
Broadcom-hosted access to AI Assistant for vDefend - Threat Defense (formerly Intelligent Assist) is governed by the AI Assistant Unit metric. This article clarifies the entitlements applicable to current and legacy offers.

Entitlements for legacy VMware Firewall with Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) and the VMware Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) Add-on provide Broadcom-hosted access exclusive to AI Assistant for vDefend - Threat Defense. Conversely, current VMware vDefend and VMware Avi Load Balancer offers provide entitlements that are shared across all three AI Assistant modules: AI Assistant for Avi, AI Assistant for vDefend - Firewall, and AI Assistant for vDefend - Threat Defense.
Additional Information
Broadcom-hosted access aligns with the AI Assistant Unit metric. Entitlements for AI Assistant for vDefend - Threat Defense remain specific to that module and are not shared. However, entitlements provided for VMware vDefend and VMware Avi Load Balancer are shared across all three modules.
