ESXi warning Host is not in compliance with the attached profile after patching

Issue/Introduction

VMware ESXi displays the warning "Host is not in compliance with the attached profile" following an ESXi host patching event.

Environment

VMware ESXi 8.x

vCenter 8.x

Cause

The non-compliance warning is caused by a configuration mismatch for the Host Profile.

Navigate to the Host -> Configure tab -> Systems on the left table -> Host Profile -> make note of the "Description" explaining what is no longer compliant in the Host Profile.

Resolution

To Resolve this issue:

• Log in to the vSphere Client.
  • Navigate to Menu > Policies and Profiles > Host Profiles.
  • Right-click the affected Host Profile and select Edit Host Profile.
    • Locate the noted configuration within the profile settings and make the necessary updates
      • Save the configuration and remediate the host to clear the compliance warning.
