Issue/Introduction

This article provides resolution steps for the "Licensing privileges are missing for the configured vCenter cloud account credentials" alert observed in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 environments post-upgrade. This alert typically indicates a synchronization failure resulting from the mandatory centralized License Server architecture.

  • Administrative alert displayed on all vCenters: "Licensing privileges are missing for the configured vCenter cloud account credentials".

  • Service account verification confirms appropriate Global.Licenses and Administrator roles are assigned.

  • Licensing synchronization fails within the VCF Operations UI.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1.x

  • vSphere 8.0.x

Cause

VCF 9.1 introduces a mandatory centralized License Server component. If the License Server has not been deployed, configured, or integrated into the VCF Operations environment, license validation calls will fail, resulting in the reported alert.

Resolution

  1. Verify the deployment status of the VCF Management Services and the centralized License Server. If not deployed, perform the deployment as outlined in the VCF 9.1 Deployment Documentation.

  2. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.

  3. Navigate to Manage > Licensing & Registration.

  4. Register the License Server and activate the instance.

  5. Once registration is confirmed and the status shows "Connected," the license state will synchronize automatically and clear the administrative alert.

Additional Information

For further assistance or if the alert persists after License Server deployment, verify network connectivity between the VCF Operations instance and the vCenter Server.
