False positive for "VCF Operations password expired" alert for root credential

Issue/Introduction

• VCF Ops UI (Manage > Password > VCF Management) displaying incorrect root password Expiry date for VCF Component: VCF Operations components

• root password was set with No Expiry date

• chage -l root command displays:

Password expires: never

• VCF Ops UI incorrectly displays the root credential's Last password change date as the Password expires date

Environment

VCF Ops: 9.1, 9.1.0.0300.25531073

VCF: 9.1

Cause

• Known UI display issue.
• This issue is cosmetic and has no functional impact on the operational state or security access of the VCF Operations environment.

Resolution

Workaround:

• When setting or updating the root password, define an explicit password expiration duration (e.g., 90 or 180 days) rather than setting the credential to never expire.

• If the password must remain non-expiring, this alert can be safely disregarded as a cosmetic display error.
