Issue/Introduction

  • The Resource Pool page is not being populated when setting up an alarm definition on the vSphere UI as follows:
    • Log into the vSphere as a user with the appropriate permissions
    • Select the "Configure" tab on the right hand side.
    • Select "Alarm Definitions".
    • Select "ADD".
    • In "Edit Alarm Definition" pop up, complete "1 Name and Targets"
    • On "2 Alarm Rule 1" configure the alarm and from the "Select an advanced action" drop down menu select "Migrate VM"
    • In the "Migrate VM" pop select an ESXi host in the "1 Destination" page and select "NEXT".
    • The next page presented is the "2 Resource Pool" page.
    • There is nothing presented there - "No items to display"
  • It is expected that there should be resource pools populated, as resource pools are configured.

Environment

  • VCF 9.1.0

Cause

  • The user interface is preventing available resource options from displaying correctly during the Migrate VM alarm definition setup process.

Resolution

  1. In the vSphere UI, on a standalone host (i.e. not one that is part of a cluster), right click and select "New Resource Pool".
  2. Create the Alarm Definition to Migrate VM, after selecting a host - the resource pool will be selectable and the alarm definition workflow can be progressed in the workflow.

Additional Information

  • This issue is intended to be resolved in a future release of software.
