Issue/Introduction

  • The collection status for Dell OpenManage Enterprise (OME) adapter in VCF Operations shows "Stopped" or "Warning".

  • Performing a  "Validate Connection"  for the Dell OpenManage Enterprise adapter instance fails with below error:

Error : Wait for response of task 'Test connection' with id "###### is timed out for collector "VCF Operations Collector-#########'.

  • The "/storage/vcops/log/adapters/OpenManageAdapter/<Adapter>-InternalID.log" reports below error :

    ERROR OpenManageAdapter ##### [ops@#### threadId="####" threadName="Collector worker thread ##" instanceId="#####"] [(#####)
com.dell.pg.vrops.stratus.OpenManageAdapter.onCollect] - Exception in onCollect method of OpenManage Enterprise Adapter, OME is not reachable.

Environment

VCF Operations

Cause

The failure typically occurs due to restricted network connectivity between VCF Operations nodes and the Dell OME server, specifically blocking TCP port 443.

Resolution

To resolve this connectivity issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations nodes via SSH.
  2. Verify connectivity to the Dell OME server on port 443 using the following command: curl -v telnet://<OME_SERVER_IP>:443
  3. Ensure the network firewall allows TCP port 443 traffic between the VCF Operations nodes and the Dell OME Server.
  4. Once port connectivity is confirmed, retry the connection validation in the VCF Operations adapter configuration.
