Issue/Introduction

vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) image validation failures that occur when the vCenter Server cannot reach the OEM appliance or update depots.

Environment

vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM)

HPE Synergy Service Pack (or other OEM hardware support packages)

Cause

The vCenter Server is unable to reach the OEM appliance or update depots. This often results in "Failed to fetch component information for hardware support package" errors during image validation.

Resolution

1. Verify network connectivity from the vCenter Server to the OEM appliance (if present) and the specified update depot.
2. Check the Hardware Support Manager (HSM) status in the vCenter UI to ensure it is registered and reachable.
3. Confirm that the latest version of the vendor add-ons/firmware is present in the repository.
4. Ensure the manifest version is supported and correctly registered in the depot.
5. If the issue persists, contact the hardware vendor to ensure the manifest version is supported.
