Issue/Introduction

When attempting to save Infrastructure Manager (IM) Profiles that include Groups nodes, the changes do not persist after logging out and back into the application.

Environment

  • Product: UIM (Unified Infrastructure Management)
  • Component: Infrastructure Manager (IM)
  • OS: Windows Server environments with User Account Control (UAC) enabled.

Cause

This issue typically occurs when Windows User Account Control (UAC) is set to "Always Notify." This security policy prevents the Infrastructure Manager application from modifying the necessary configuration files for Groups nodes during the save operation.

Resolution

To resolve this behavior, ensure that the Infrastructure Manager application has the necessary permissions to write to its configuration files. The recommended workaround is to launch the application with elevated privileges:

  1. Right-click the Infrastructure Manager shortcut or executable (.exe).
  2. Select Run as administrator from the context menu.
  3. Proceed to configure and save your IM Profiles with Groups nodes.
  4. Verify that the changes persist after logging out and logging back in.

Additional Notes: If the user account does not have permission to "Run as administrator" on the specific server, please contact your system administrator to request the appropriate elevated permissions or to review the local UAC security policies affecting the application.
