Common Components and Services for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

You need to identify the current level set of the Common Components and Services (CCS) product running on your z/OS system. You use the following methods to verify your current maintenance level:

Resolution

Method 1: Using the CAIRIMU Utility

You perform the following steps to check the level set during an active session:

  1. Log on to your TSO session.
  2. Enter the CAIRIMU command on the TSO command line.
  3. Review the output for the CAS9196I message.
  4. You identify the level set in the following format: CAS9196I Common Components and Services Level Set: vv.rr.mm
    • Note: PTF LU02754 (published October 6,2021) must be applied for this method to return the level set message

Method 2: Reviewing the System Log (SYSLOG)

You verify the level set by reviewing the startup logs from the initial program load (IPL):

  1. Access your system log (SYSLOG) or the job log (JOBLOG) from the IPL.
  2. Search for message: CAS9194I - Common Components & Services Level Set: vv.rr.mm
    • Note: PTF LU02754 (published October 6,2021) must be applied for this message to be generated
  3. If the CAS9194I message is not found, search for the CAS9075I message to determine your CCS release
  4. You identify the release and generation level from the GENLVL keyword: CAS9075I - SERVICE(CA-RIM/BASE ) VERS(####) GENLVL(####)

Note: See KB article WHAT RELEASE OF CA COMMON SERVICES AM I RUNNING for additional information
