Downward compatibility of CAIRIM loaded modules in IDMS

Issue/Introduction

This article documents the downward compatibility of the IDMS load modules that are loaded by CAIRIM - the IGCnnn load module, RHDCSSFM, IDMSMSVA, CAIXDOA$ and PMRTDATA.

The information in this article supersedes any previously published documentation on this topic.

Resolution

These modules have historically been downward compatible, meaning that later versions of them would successfully work with older versions of the CAGJLOAD load library. This has been done so that it would be possible to run CVs at different maintenance levels on the same LPAR. By using the latest versions of these modules in the STEPLIB of the CAIRIM job, any older IDMS maintenance level could be supported.

As of LU21358 (published on September 16, 2026) this is no longer the case for the IGCxxx load module, IDMSMSVA and RHDCSSFM. If LU21358 has been applied and the versions of those modules replaced by that PTF are being used in the CAIRIM STEPLIB, then any CV running on that LPAR must also use a CAGJLOAD with LU21358 applied.
