Site-level availability reporting with device redundancy in DX NetOps Performance Management

Issue/Introduction

 DX NetOps Performance Management standard groups and collections aggregate availability using temporal averages. When managing redundant device pairs at a site level, requirements often dictate that a site remains "available" if at least one redundant device is polling successfully. This article outlines the architectural approach to calculate site-level availability using "OR" logic (spatial maximum) across devices at the same polling interval, which is required for accurate site-redundancy reporting.

Environment

DX NetOps Performance Management (all versions).

Cause

Standard canned reports in the NetOps Portal calculate group availability as an average of all member devices. There is no out-of-the-box report

Resolution

Generate Scorecard report with Avalilability Maximum metric

 

if all values are 0, then maximum will show 0.

if any value is 100, then maximum value is set to  100
