Issue/Introduction

In some environments, it may be necessary to restrict users from uploading file attachments to Rally. While there is no native "disable" toggle for file attachments at the subscription level, the configuration settings can be manipulated to achieve this result.

Environment

Rally SaaS

Cause

There is no dedicated on/off switch for the attachment feature, this behavior is controlled by the "Allowed File Extensions" configuration in Rally subscription settings page.

Resolution

To effectively block all file attachments, configure the "Allowed File Extensions" field to an invalid pattern.

  1. Log in to Rally using Subscription Administrator permissions.
  2. Navigate to the Subscription Settings page.
  3. Locate the Allowed File Extensions field.
  4. Set the value to .___ (three underscores).
  5. Save the configuration.

Additional Information

When this configuration is applied, any attempt by a user to upload an attachment will result in a red error notification, effectively preventing the upload process for the entire subscription.
