Issue/Introduction

When creating or modifying tags in vCenter, the updates do not immediately reflect in the VCF Operations for Networks user interface. This article explains the expected behavior regarding tag synchronization.

Environment

• VCF Operations for Networks 6.13.0
• VCF Operations for Networks 6.14.x

Cause

VCF Operations for Networks fetches tag associations on a fixed Collector Inventory Polling Cycle. This design ensures platform performance by avoiding continuous, real-time API polling of vCenter.

Resolution

Tag associations are synchronized during the scheduled polling cycle. To verify tag presence in the VCF Operations for Networks GUI:

1. Create or update the tag in vCenter and attach it to the target virtual machine.
2. Wait 15 minutes to allow the next Collector Inventory Polling Cycle to complete.
3. Refresh the GUI. The tag should now appear in the search index and auto-complete dropdowns.
