Issue/Introduction

This article provides guidance on synchronizing vSphere Distributed Switches (VDS) and port groups created directly in vCenter Server with the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) SDDC Manager inventory.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1

SDDC Manager 9.1

Resolution

Manually created VDS switches in vCenter outside of SDDC Manager orchestration require manual synchronization to the SDDC Manager database.

  1. Log in to the SDDC Manager UI.
  2. Retrieve the current VDS configuration information using the API: GET /v1/clusters/{clusterId}/vdses
  3. Execute the remediation API to update the inventory: POST /v1/clusters/{clusterId}/remediations/
  4. Verify the synchronization status by running the GET API again to confirm the VDS information reflects the current vCenter state.

Note: Non-system traffic port groups added directly from vCenter cannot be synchronized to SDDC Manager.
